Here is a favorite photo taken last fall in Japan. This is a park where my LOVE grew up and played as a child. Japan, a place I can’t wait to visit again soon.
What I liked most about this shot, is the light reflecting off the pavement. This was shot mid-day, I edited it to a black and white, I feel like it adds more drama and style to the photo.
I love photographing doors, walk around in Spain and you’ll find limitless interesting looking doors. I always wonder about the history of a door, who made it, why, and when. Most of all what’s behind it and with some doors what are they trying to keep out. My fascination with doors is not alone. Check-out Caryn Cullinan The Door Project a book of doors from 40 cites.
When ever traveling I love to stop and talk with the locals. In Spain one night after dinner we stopped in a local Gelato shop and meet an older gentleman. We talked for awhile and I noticed that his English was very good. So, I asked where he was from? He immediately lit up and explained that he was a citizen of the world. He explained, that the had been a professor who had taught in Germany, China, and Spain and had lived all over. After thinking about that, is that not the best way to think of yourself. Should we all not first think of ourselves a citizen of the world first.
Here is a shot I took while waiting for a restaurant to open. Some place closed after breakfast and do not reopen for lunch until 2 p.m. For this shot I got pretty low and waited, and soon enough a scooter came whizzing by.
I’m so excited to share my photos of the Spain trip I took a few weeks ago. What an amazing and beautiful country and people. We landed in Madrid and quickly got settled, then went out for a walk later that evening. Here is a shot from the streets of Madrid. I’m looking forward to visiting this city again. Next time doing an AirBnB and renting a car to do day visits to some of the smaller towns and villages.
